Happy February to all! This is the beginning of our #DiamondDeepDive where we will be breaking down different types of diamonds, and diamond alternatives, to give you the best information to find out what stone is right for you!

This week we are talking about everyone’s favorite gemstone, the diamond. Straight from the earth itself, naturally mined diamonds are the star of the show!
Want to learn more? Keep reading below!

What is a “Natural” Diamond?

In its simplest form, a natural diamond is a gemstone mined from the earth that is well known for its beauty and unbreakable strength!

Diamonds are actually the solid form of the carbon atom that forms over millions of years of intense pressure under the Earth’s surface. Through natural processes these deposits are brought to the surface and mined for the gemstones they hold.

Each naturally mined diamond must go through several different stages of mining, cutting, and polishing before it resembles what we know of today.
A natural 2 carat diamond can take millions, or even billions, of years to form into what we have in our showroom today.

Natural Diamond Pros:

  • It’s the original, and for many that is enough. They simply want the original engagement stone. A beautiful, natural diamond.

  • Some may see a natural diamond as being more fascinating given that it took millions of years to form naturally.

  • A natural diamond is going to hold value a lot better than any alternative. There’s always a market for diamonds.

  • Natural diamonds can be added into estates and left to heirs upon someone's passing. While other stones can also be passed down, diamonds historically have more sentimental value to them.

  • Rarity. Natural forming diamonds are still a rare substance, and to some the idea of owning a rare stone is intriguing enough.

Natural Diamond Cons:

  • The retail cost of something that takes millions of years to form can be pretty high.

In Summary

Naturally mined diamonds are just that, natural. They are the original, being around a lot longer than humans, and there’s something to say about that.

For many there is no question of which stone is right for them, a diamond from the earth is the only way to go.

For others, however, there are options. We are here to lay out all the options & give you the best information for your decision.

Next week we are going to discuss, “Diamond Alternatives” or simply, other popular options besides diamonds.

Want to learn more about different classifications of diamonds? You can reach out to us anytime through phone, text, or email to learn more! We’ll talk diamonds all day!
