“Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be. Will you spend the best of your life with me?” -Unknown

Happy Holidays everyone! As we roll into December, we also enter the height of engagement season because statistically speaking, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day are the two biggest days for engagements across the world!

It makes sense, who doesn’t love a perfect happy moment surrounded by friends & family! Not to mention the whimsical magic that surrounds the holiday season every year!

With our holiday season looking a little different then years past, however, holiday proposals will have to adapt to more socially distant and safer moments.

To celebrate the holiday engagement season, we at Ballard & Ballard have put together a short Do’s & Don’ts list to proposing this holiday season, with some new ideas to keep everyone safe & healthy going into the new year! Check them out below!

DO: Keep Other’s Involved

With this holiday season not being great for travel that doesn’t mean you can’t keep friends & family in on the plan to surprise your partner. While we admit it’s not perfect, using phone calls, Facetimes, or Zooms with loved ones to help with popping the question it can still be a great way to bring others in on the special moment.

DON’T: Jeopardize Anyone’s Health

We feel like this goes without saying, but someone’s health is not worth putting at risk this holiday season. If the proposal needs to wait for everyone’s safety, we recommend that because keeping our loved ones safe this season should be everyone’s number one priority.

DO: Plan It Around You & Your Partner

There’s no one “perfect” way to pop the question that we can recommend. It all comes down to what works for you & your partner. Spontaneous & romantic or worked into an everyday routine & planned. Don’t try to go crazy over the top if that’s not what they like. Keeping your partner in mind, and doing something they love will make the moment all so much more special

DON’T: Panic

Our biggest piece of advice is to not panic. Many people panic over getting the moment just right that they then get in their head over every aspect of the proposal. Don’t overthink it, just enjoy the moment. Don’t go over the top too much, just appreciate the moment for what it is with your partner & make it special to the two of you.

DO: Plan Something After

Again, with travel being harder this season we recommend having a Facetime or Zoom meeting set up for after the big moment with friends & family. This way you can still celebrate the happy moment with those close to you safely without missing anyone who might not be able to be there in person.

DON’T: Worry Too Much

Like we stated above when we told you not to panic, we wanted to reiterate that point one more time. This is a very special moment between you & your partner so enjoy it. This will be something you look back on for years to come. Don’t overthink anything, just live in the moment.
