Fast forward to more medieval times, many believed that aquamarine had the properties of an “oracle” and when it was cut into a crystal ball it could be used for fortune telling & divining tool.

Not many know, but the iron oxide in the stone is what gives it it’s stunning pale blue hue.

In today’s world the most common type of aquamarine is a pretty blue, the shade of the sky, and is usually cut in or near an emerald shape. More squared off with slightly rounded corners.
