“You’re a diamond dear, they can’t break you” -Unknown
As Spring rolls in we are here to discuss the birthstone of all the April babies, diamond! Diamond is one of the hardest gems on earth, and they come with some surprising history facts! Let’s dive in!

Going way back to the 1400’s diamonds were mined in India and traded in Europe for goods & services. Many diamonds made their way into the hands of European royalty this way.
As time went on the mines of India dried up, and over the centuries mines in Brazil, South Africa, and even Russia. Origins may have changed, but value & demand have not.

While our modern version of birthstones began around 1912, the concept of different stones giving different powers or feelings dates back to the ancient Hebrews when breastplates held by the temple priests were used to discern what stone had specific properties.
As time went on the Romans became the ones to standardize the practice of wearing different stones every month as the calendar rolled through.

Around the middle ages the diamond became known to help heal health issues that centered around the pituitary gland, and other toxins in the body.
It was also known to add balance, and even boost the owners energy when paired with other gemstones such as amethyst.
Overall, the babies born in April are blessed by having one of the most sought after stones on this planet as their birthstone. From balance to bling, the Diamond makes any birthday that much better.
