“Layering in different patterns will keep things from appearing too studied.” -Unknown
Fall has arrived here in Southern California, and as the Santa Ana Winds blow in we at Ballard & Ballard are all about the layers. The only difference here is that we are not talking layered clothing, we are talking layered necklaces.

Why Layer?
When it comes to dressing up for the Fall it’s all about the layers. Layering your jewelry can turn an everyday necklace into a statement piece. It draws the eye to the owner’s neckline and really pulls the entire look together.
Try adding a few layers to the neckline next time you have a night out with your friends.

How do I Layer?
There is no science behind the layering of necklaces, but here are some tips to keep in mind:
1. Start with a baseline necklace that can serve as a starting point.
2. Keep it between 2 to 4 pieces total, otherwise it can become too much of a cluttered mess.
3. Mix and match metals to create some complex and unique structures.
4. Don’t be afraid to get chunky. A mix of chunky and thin can be the perfect collection.
5. Create a focal point. Don’t add 3 or 4 different pendants, but insead, try highlighting one pendant with different chains for a cohesive look.

Layered necklaces can be the perfect way to spice up an outfit and we are all for trying different styles. Next time you’re going out on the town, or even going to a neighbors for drinks, try adding a few layers to the neckline for a fun twist on a classic look!
