Custom rings are unique and are one of a kind, made with special features at the client's request. Different details are curated to develop a ring, such as precious metals, gemstones, mircopave and other unique parts.
Ordinarily, buying a custom ring can take up to three months, depending on the couple and the ring of choice. The process includes doing research, consulting and the actual process of making the ring. Knowing the different steps involved and the timelines, prepares one to estimate the ring's arrival and when to plan for the big day.
TIMELINE FOR MAKING A CUSTOM ENGAGEMENT RING
STEP 1: RESEARCH AND CONSULTATION
Even before seeking professional consultation, most couples do a lot of research on their own. They get to learn the differences between gemstones and diamonds. After research, couples begin to browse engagement ring options with inspiration from the different cuts, settings and details of the gemstones. Besides research, one can take time to consult professional jewelers to inspire their research process. Professional consultation with the jeweler allows one to get to know the couple better. Additionally, they get to know their preferences to deliver their ideal ring.
Research and consultation can take at most one week.
STEP 2: THE DESIGNING OF A CUSTOM ENGAGEMENT RING
This step usually involves sketching the ring and creating 3D models using modern sculpting tools for a custom engagement ring. 3D modeling and computer-aided jewelry design software create accurate designs at a fast rate. The design will have several iterations of the idea until it is perfect and meets the requirements.
The whole design process takes about two to three weeks, depending on the complexity of the design.
STEP 3: REVIEWING
Once the model of the ring is complete, it is sent to the client for feedback. Since the designs are in 3D, one gets to see every ring's angle to know what they will be getting. Reviewing can take as long as the couple wants. At Ballard and Ballard Fine Jewelers, we offer complimentary revisions before moving on.
STEP 4: CREATION OF A CUSTOM ENGAGEMENT RING
The models and imagery developed are now used to produce the actual ring. Here, metals are cast, gemstones are set in place, engravings are done, and finally, quality control is done. All this is to make sure that the client gets the perfect ring.
Creating a custom ring can take three weeks or more, depending on the complexity of the design.
STEP 5: REVIEW AND DELIVERY
When the creation is done, the client receives the final product photo for review. Our goal at Ballard and Ballard Fine Jewelers is to surpass all our clients' expectations. After approval, the ring is packaged and delivered.
Ballard and Ballard Fine Jewelers take pride in creating treasured pieces. We look forward to creating pieces that our clients will love and cherish for the rest of their lives.
